I am Sam, and I set up Violets and Velvet, an award-winning independent florist almost 20 years ago . I am delighted and grateful that the business has quite literally bloomed since then and has given me and others an enriching career as well as limitless opportunities and possibilities to develop creatively.
Moreover, I have found that the privilege of working with nature, to create unique pieces, which can mark all of life’s occasions and be so richly appreciated by others, is not only hugely rewarding, but it also unlocks a deep sense of wellbeing. The practise of floristry builds our connection to nature, gratitude, and confidence to express our creativity. I developed the Floral Sessions to not only teach new skills and floristry techniques, but also to share the many benefits that working with flowers brings.
On my six session floral programme, I will share my passion for flowers and the natural world alongside teaching sustainable floristry skills. Flowers offer an incredible ever changing and diverse medium, which can be used to celebrate, honour and show love, from a simple hand-picked bunch of blooms from the garden to a bridal bouquet, or a tribute for a loved one no longer with us.
You don’t need any previous experience to join this programme.....just come with a passion for flowers.
